The Octopus’s Garden
Hallowbaloo Street Festival:
Saturday, October 29th
FREE Show!!
The Grandest Spectacle Stage – 6:30pm-8:30pm
This Hallowbaloo, neo-burlesque troupe Cherry Blossom Cabaret puts on The Octopus’s Garden, an ocean-themed variety show that will feature a beautiful mermaid, an ethereal fan dance and even synchronized swimming — all in the cabaret style of CBC, which translates to an entertaining and oh-so-stimulating exhibition. It’s a sea of dreams more than worthy of exploration with Dancers Unlimited and Professor Pandemonium adding to the fun. Living sea nymph statues will also be part of the show, breathtakingly hand-painted by artists Daniel Morris and Lisa Ponce de Leon.
Trust us. There’s no place you’d rather be than under-the-sea in The Octopus’s Garden with CBC. Come experience motion in the ocean like only the ladies of Cherry Blossom Cabaret can conjure.
Bio of Artist / Body Painter – Daniel Morris:
- Morris will be painting the Octopus’s Garden living sea nymph statues/models along with Lisa Ponce de Leon.
Daniel Morris Gallery just opened in a brand new artist’s loft located in the heart of the Honolulu Arts District (aka Chinatown). This exclusive suite gives art lovers and collectors a direct connection to Morris and his work. Morris has toyed with artistic mediums such as pencil, charcoal, and clay since his youth. In 1998, he began teaching himself how to use airbrush guns, and in three months, he was working in a T-Shirt Store in Columbus, Ohio creating wearable art for his customers. By 2002, he turned is focus to canvas pieces, exploring a unique type of illusionary photorealism. He moved to Hawaii in 2006 and immediately became one of the most popular airbrush artists on the island. After several years, he returned to his canvas work and secured display space in the O'hea Building where he continues to showcase his pieces. With the opening Daniel Morris Gallery, he now provides art lovers with two locations to enjoy his images.
