This stunning nine-member band gives you not just a show - but a full on concert, an experience. Giving 110 percent every time on stage, Soul Revival Sound System energizes audiences with original songs influenced by musicians Jackie Mitoo and Brother Jack McDuff, as well as old-school reggae, rocksteady, ska, funk, '60s soul, Latin, jazz, rock and world music. All of this creates a self-described "delicious melting pot of vintage sound."
Delivering that classic soul vibe is not something the band takes lightly. Their passion and commitment are commendable and have been paying great dividends, both to fans and themselves. Last year, the Honolulu Weekly named SRSS as an up-and-coming local band to keep an eye on. Since then, the band has played to full houses at every outing, including at last year's Hallowbaloo when they opened for the The Budos Band.
Fronted by the ever-sassy Kitty Chow (DJ and Cherry Blossom Cabaret Dancer & MC), SRSS includes in its ranks highly sought after Honolulu sax man Reggie Padilla (Reggie Padilla Quartet, Bop Tribal, Family Dinner, Delta Skelta) and the equally in-demand and talented drummer Jack Tawil (Painted Highways, Mano Kane, Hell Caminos, Linus the Band).
Undeniably catchy, even to those who aren't familiar with the band's music, SRSS puts you under a mesmerizing spell while commanding your respect. SRSS also commands that you dance and have an amazing time. It's not possible to come away from an SRSS concert without feeling excited and wanting more. Keep your eyes peeled for the band's first full-length album due out later this year so you can keep the groove alive long after the lights go down.
