MOTHxp
Hallowbaloo Street Festival:

FREE Show!!
Nuboo Stage - 7:30pm
What happens when Tool meets Cirque du Soleil? MOTHxp (short for “Moth Experience”) emerges from the cocoon swathed in a monsoon of sound. Add to that a barrage of light beams, zany costumes and body movements, and you’ll see why MOTHxp shows are truly about the EXPERIENCE. Hard to believe, but driving the mind-numbing multi-sensory stimulation are just two musicians: guitarist James “Cotton” Hartmann and drummer James Bowersox. Maui Time writes, “They’re a two man band, but close your eyes and their huge sound is wildly deceptive.”
MOTHxp combine their ferocious post-punk prog-rock with multi-media visual stimuli with much skill as evidenced by their winning Mulligan’s 2010 Battle of the Bands and 2011 bookings at mainland music festivals. Unexpected performance art in conjunction with frenetic musicianship turns crowd shockers into crowd pleasers. With no loops or prerecorded tracks, it’s a marvel how two people can create such a massive soundscape and deliver so much impact.

MOTHxp is a credit to Maui’s long-standing embrace of a kaleidoscope of cultures and the expansive creative scene it has spawned. Hallowbaloo will provide visitors and Honolulu folk with a rare opportunity to get their senses overloaded by this more-than-dynamic duo. After the show, don’t be surprised if you find yourself shaking the cobwebs from your head trying to determine where you are. That’s when you’ll know you’ve just been caterpillared by MOTHxp.
