Kauai’s own five-woman fire dancing troupe proudly names itself after a sacred mountain shaped like a goddess on Kauai. If there ever was a blending of international styles of dance, Kalalea shows it to the fullest, combining Tahitian, African, hip-hop and Middle Eastern dance with martial arts, Chinese opera and hula. Most members of the troupe have studied various forms of dance, martial arts and yoga for at least 10 years, if not their entire lives. So it’s not just the flames that are a marvel, it’s also the dancers themselves who place heavy emphasis on using choreographed movements to contrast the raw power of fire with alluring feminine grace. Combining their body-bending abilities with their fire skills results in a show at a world-class level.

Kalalea has performed to sold-out crowds at 20,000+ seat arenas alongside members of the Grateful Dead, as well as at high-brow corporate events. Actor Pierce Brosnan (aka ‘James Bond’  ‘94-‘06) even flew the troupe to Malibu to perform at his 50th birthday party.
