Whether the magic hails from Violetta Beretta’s fluid and alluring movements supremely polished from a life dedicated to dance, Kitty Chow’s snide banter honed from 15 years of international cabaret performance, or Miss Catwings’s elaborate koi fish mermaid costume made up of thousands of hand-sewn sequins, CBC never ceases to amaze audiences — and keep them coming back for more.

In addition to performing at various festivals and theatrical venues, CBC brings in a full house each month for its MénageÀ3 engagement at the trendy Apartment3. CBC also summons mad amounts of whooping and hollering at its Speakeasy spectacle held at the off-the-beaten-path Mercury Bar every other month. Each MénageÀ3 and Speakeasy features completely original shows and costumes, and for most cabaret troupes, that would be enough to keep them comfortably overwhelmed. But CBC’s passion and commitment are as unique as its performances, and the troupe also hosts an annual, full-length theatrical production called VarieTease, for which CBC writes the entire script from scratch. Recent themes have ranged from Alice in Chinatown to Carnal Carnival. As if the above activities weren’t enough, CBC also now holds regular burlesque classes called the Academy of Tease. Cabaret for everyone!
